After 15 years spent at Kildangan Stud for Cheikh Mohammed in Ireland, Ian Hanamy, nicknamed Moussey, decided with is wife Katherine Aalen, who worked 10 years for a vet, to set up their own studfarm in France in 2003. In the middle of an economic boom in Ireland, they were renting 3 farms near Kildare, with no buying option as prices went up the roof then. Based in a typical Normandy studfarm, with half timbering buildings, near Exmes, close to Haras du Pin, they own around 30 broodmares, mainly national hunt. In 2014, they stood 3 stallions : Bonbon Rose, the multicoloured horse I Was Framed the unknown but talented Rob Roy. The last two sires will move to Ireland in 2015. Ian Hanamy left a mark thanks to an anonymous fact. When he moved to France, he brought in his suitcases a big black horse by Toponoora, the obscure Even Top, runner up to Mark of Esteem in the 1996 2,000 Guineas. Deft salesman like most of the irish, he sold him to the National Studs. the horse died in 2009, anonymously. The stallion only had an handful of foals every year, including in 2006, Cirrus des Aigles...

At the public sales, Haras des Loges is on the the other hand, specialised in flat horses. Ian always takes the horses himself on the ring and sometimes sing irish traidtional songs to motivate horses to walk. In August 2012, Haras des Loges sold a colt by Pastoral Pursuit for €150.000. In August 2013, a colt by Dutch Art made €140.000 . In December 2013; a Singspiel filly in foal to Makfi reached €360.000. In August 2014, Haras des Loges will consign 6 lots, includin 4 for the V1.
