One of the young useful sire in Europe could be standing in one of the most unbalanced country in Europe? Apart from the strongest breeding spots like Ireland, England, France and Germany, Spain could not really make a step forward in the equine industry. Paradoxically, it is when the crisis is in full swing, that Dehesa de Milagro reveals that top class breeding is reachable.

Created by José Holmaeche and Felipé Hinojosa near Pamplona in the north of Spain, 2 hours drive from San Sebastian, Dehesa de Milagro relies on the home stallions. Today, they can count on a more than proven horse, Diktat, and a young sire, who made successful debuts with his first 4yo crop of foals : Caradak  (Desert Style), winner of Prix de la Forêt (Gr.1) in 2006 for Godolphin who purchased the colt out of the Aga Khan.

" Caradak was an impressive racehorse, tough and string. He was firsttrained by John Oxx to pursue under the care of Godolphin. He is a Gr.1 and Gr.2 winner. He was resistant over his career and has a great Aga Khan pedigree", explains Jose Holmaeche.

" He  did not run as a juvenile, but his pedigree shows precocity. It was a great opportunity for Spain. Physically, he is straing and powerful, maybe a bit taller than his maternal family could show. He has lots of bones and is muscular. His first crop of foals turned 4 in 2013. As for the statistics, up to 1st June 2013, he records 38 individual runners for 20 winners. He already produced 3 spanish champions, and a group placed in France."

Caradak started to be famous in France thanks to Show Gorb, a €6,500 filly as a yearling, who won Dehesa Grand Prix at San Sebastian in 2012 before finishing 2nd of the Prix Miesque (Gr.3) as a juvenile and taking part in the 2013 french guineas at 3. In Spain, Caradak produced his first superstar in 2012: the unbeaten 3yo Matusalen won in Madrid one of the 5 listed contests of the iberian program against older horses.
In 2013, Caradak also succeeded in a spanish classic reserved to 3yos thanks to Karetas' victory in the 2,000 Guineas ran in the capitale. Early June, the filly Navarra took off in the Oaks on the same racetrack. As for the 2yos, his first runner Noozoh Canarias won on his debuts on 1st May, in Madrid once again

" He usually produces powerful foals with bones. We really believe in the horse and think that the best is yet to come. Indeed, he has 28 registred foals for his second season, a bit less for his 3rd and 4th year, but 45 pregnant mares in 2013. A bright future ahead. His foals are beautiful with a great temperament. They are easy to train and and honest in racing. Trainers like them, which is the most important thing. "
