ParisLongchamp : l'exploit de The Platinum Queen

Deuxième des Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr.1) et des Flying Childers Stakes (Gr.2), The Platinum Queen (Cotai Glory) s’est offert un premier Groupe avec la manière face à ses aînés dans le Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp (Gr.1). Elle est la première 2 ans à remporter l’épreuve depuis la victoire de la pouliche Sigy (Habitat) en 1978, c’est dire la portée de l’exploit ! Partie aux avant-postes, la pensionnaire de Richard Fahey a pris seule le meilleur à 600 m du but avec Hollie Doyle et a prolongé son effort jusqu’au bout pour triompher d’une courte encolure face à White Lavender (Heeraat). Seul français à l’arrivée, Cœur de Pierre (Zanzibari) s’est très bien comporté en s’emparant de la troisième place à une encolure. Élevée par Tally-Ho Stud, The Platinum Queen avait été achetée 57.000 Guinées par son entraîneur et ses propriétaires, les actionnaires de Middleham Park Racing XV, lors de la breeze up de Tattersalls. C’est la première gagnante de Gr.1 issue de Cotai Glory (Exceed and Excel), qui fait la monte à Tally-Ho Stud. Sa mère, Thrilled (Kodiac), n’a pu faire l’arrivée en quatre sorties. Thrilled est une sœur de The Gold Cheongsam (Red Clubs), qui s’est classée troisième des Boadicea Stakes (L.) à Newmarket.
