Deauville : Chartwell après lutte
Troisième pour ses débuts sur ce tracé, Chartwell (Churchill) a confirmé en ouvrant son palmarès dans un bon style à l'occasion du Prix de Martainville (Maiden). Bien placé derrière les chevaux de tête, le poulain de Jean-Michel Lebrun et de Carlos & Yann Lerner a pris l'avantage à 200 m du but et s'est montré très lutteur pour repousser l'attaque du tenace More Dream (Almanzor), qui a dû s'incliner d'une tête pour ses débuts. Chartwell a été élevé par Jean-Pierre Dubois et Thomas Levesque. Présenté par le haras des Capucines à la vente de yearlings d'août Arqana, il avait été cédé 50.000 € à l'amiable à Carlos & Yann Lerner. Issu de l'étalon de Coolmore Churchill (Galileo), Chartwell est le 1er produit de Sidewalk (New Approach), qui a remporté une course à conditions à 4 ans sur l'hippodrome de Nîmes. Cette dernière est une soeur d'Ideal Beauty (Invincible Spirit), gagnante du Prix de Saint-Georges (Gr.3) et 3e du Prix Sigy (Gr.3), entre autres. Photo APRH.
